The Upstander Award

Holocaust survivor and artist Gabriella Karin collaborated with Nevada Center for Humanity to create a bronze sculpture to be awarded to a group or individual who exemplifies greatness in their actions.

Holocaust survivor and artist Gabriella Karin collaborated with Nevada Center for Humanity to create the Upstander Award in bronze. Each year, in partnership with Dr. Jeffrey Geihs of Nevada Association of School Administrators (NASA),  a committee of educational leaders will select one individual whose actions exemplify what it means to stand up for others. That individual will be recognized as the Upstander of the Year, a testament to the power of one.

Our mission is to educate Nevadans through the lessons of the Holocaust, highlighting acts of courage and compassion amid atrocity. Through artifacts, virtual reality films, and exhibitions across the state, we share stories of those who stood up for their fellow man and inspire others to model their moral courage.
